Lead by Example and build a solid foundation for our children

It’s a struggle among parents, children and society at large. Why do I say this? I teach my children that your actions will cause a reaction resulting in consequences. My children are very much in tune with happenings in and around Jamaica and the wider world because we get the news as it breaks daily; however, they see our Honorable and Most Honorable just break the rules with no repercussion.
Recently, there was in the news the story of a popular public official in Government who by his own admission said his actions were inappropriate, which would suggest to me that he acted outside the realm of his authority.
Now, this public official obviously must know about -action and consequences and the leader of his organization which happens to be the leader of the country says, she will take a zero tolerance approach to corruption or any likeness thereof. However, despite the fact that this public official admitted to acting outside the remits of his office there has been no action taken by the Public Official or the Leader of the country.
As a matter of fact you know what the leader says? "An investigation will be launched into the matter until then the official will remain," as if nothing happen! Can somebody tell me what there is to investigate?
Does anyone see now why I say it’s a struggle among the three entities mentioned earlier in my article? What kind of precedence are we setting for our children? Isn't this a classic case of "do as I say, but not as I do".
“Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, it is the only means.”

Would you agree that life is like a game of football? Let’s look at it.

Football is a game vigorous in nature played all over the world by many people; and the sport is also various.  There are usually a selective number of players; separated in two teams (e.g. 22 players, 11 on each team) equally in numbers so there are no disadvantages to either team as it relates to numbers. There are also rules which are pre-established and should be understood by teams in order to maintain certain discipline and camaraderie on the playing field.
